That's right, but you probably already knew, the majority of our planet is covered with water so if you want to enjoy the tranquillity of the wide open spaces you are going to need a boat.  To really get away you will need a big boat but by far the most fun and the most interesting things to see are close to the land, you only need a small boat and just about everyone can afford something suitable that floats. 

A small boat made of modern materials will last you a life time and with very little maintenance you can holiday every weekend.  More traditionally constructed craft can give as much reward from the building and maintenance as from the using.  It is all a matter of choice.  We suggest you consider a canoe, kayak, pedal boat (pedalo) or dinghy. The latter includes inflatables, rowboats, sailing boats and small motor boats typically used with an outboard engine.

For the time-pressed family boater and hire-centre operator we have focused this site on low maintenance modern craft able to withstand the punishment of the most enterprising youth or ardent explorer and with characteristics to make them acceptable to the nervous first timer or partially disabled.
